Recommendation for Jonathan L. F. King

	King was perhaps the liveliest student in CS206 this Fall.
He has substantial mathematical ability and a wide range of mathematical
interests including symbolic computation.  Judging from what he learned
about the methods of factoring polynomials while doing his CS206 term
project, I think he would be successful as a Computer Science PhD
student.  In particular, he would do well in symbolic computation
(i.e. MACSYMA type) or in analysis of algorithms.
There is no doubt about his motivation and intellectual independence.
He doesn't seem to be at the top in straight mathematical ability,
although if his mathematical recommenders said otherwise, I would
go along with them.
